Progress Report: Peek A Boo Fairy

This is my very little progress - I brought the wrong page to kiddo's soccer practice and only got the bottom right corner done in tent stitch, I still have to go back over and make the full cross.  But, any progress is good progress.

So I made a few Purchases

I added to my stash of patterns.

And I also made 3 more purchases of Heaven and Earth Designs patterns.

Tatty Teddy and Flower

Finished at last! :)

Measures about 3inches x 3 inches.

I was in a beautiful Haberdashery shop in Wales this past summer, called YLP Haberdashery, in Caernarfon.  I purchased a few of these Tatty Teddy mini skits and another larger Cross to stitch for when the kiddo receives First Communion in another year and a half.

New Start: HAED: Peek a Boo Fairy

Well, I have a bit of good news, and a lot of bad news.

The good news is that I started my first HAED - I got the pattern on clearance, and searched my whole stash of threads and found that I had all but one color for the chart. I even had the fabric in my stash.  It's 18 count Aida, and since it's a relatively small HAED, I figured I'd use the 18 count to make it a tiny bit bigger than stitching it on 25 count would make it.

It's called Peek a Boo Fairy With Dried Flowers, with the artwork by Jasmine Becket-Griffith
Design size: 200 W by 185 H

Now for the bad news.

My mom has been losing weight for a few months now, ever since she broke her hip the end of May. Since Monday she's been in the hospital.  Today we got the news that they found a mass on her liver and multiple spots on her lungs. The nurses and doctors have been talking to me about hospice care.  My dad passed in 07, and my grandmother (my mom's mom) is 92 and has no idea how sick my mom (her daughter) really is.  There's no one else but me and my husband to handle this, and I'm starting to lose my mind trying to keep track of everything (doctors appointments, kiddos Girl Scouts and soccer, my own work schedule, husbands work schedule, etc).

Finish: Lords Prayer

Okay.. so my version is a bit less intricate, but it's DONE, framed and given. :) *whoop*

I ran out of time since I got sick and had a 3 day migraine.  I skipped the two side crosses, and some of the details in the top, but in my opinion it looks just fine and no one will notice if I don't say anything.. so shhhh don't tell!

Perhaps not my best quick framing job. I did it right after kiddo got done with soccer as we were changing clothes to go to the special mass and dinner.

Without further ado, the dining room proudly presents the final piece. (Bonus points to whoever can get the reference!)

It was a *huge* hit!

Progress Report: Gourmet ABC and Lords Prayer

Here's my (slow) progress on the Gourmet ABC.  I've slowed down on this one since I'm working so hard on my Godmothers gift.

I'm hoping I can get it done by Christmas, if not, Valentines Day. My goals are fluid. hahaha

And here's my progress on the gift for my Godmother.  I *HAVE* to finish it by 17 October..  It will get done.  I have all night tonight, and all day tomorrow to stitch...  Here's hoping I get a ton more done in the next week, so I don't have to stress out the day I need to give it away.  I have the wrapping paper and frame ready to go.. I'm using this as my motivation.

I just ordered a pizza.. I'm going to get my stitching groove on, and then stitch the night away.

Obviously I'm going to wash my hands before I stitch.

New Start: Lords Prayer

Well, I've put the Gourmet ABC and the Nautical ABC on the back burner for a few days.  I promise I'm going to go back to them both ASAP!!  There's a very very good reason why I shelved them for right now.   My daughter and I share the same godmother, who is a nun.  We received the invitation about 2 weeks ago that our godmother will be celebrating her 50th jubilee as a nun on Oct 17th.

I had no idea what to get her as a gift, and this past Christmas, kiddo and I gave her a quilt, so a quick quilt was out of the question.  My kiddo says, "Can't you stitch her a prayer?" BINGO.  So I ordered the Lords Prayer kit off Ebay.  I got it, started stitching it with the thread it came with and wound up ripping most out.. it kept knotting.  My husband then says, "Why don't you stitch it in her favorite color? There's only 3 colors in it."  Off to the store I went.  Got (hopefully) enough thread, and new fabric.  Fresh start.

In one week:
What it will look like:

Day 1: 3 hours in:

Day 1:  4 hours in:

Day 2: about 10 hours total:

Day 5 (I missed a few pictures!!)  About 20 hours so far total:

Hopefully I get another row or so done tonight.  I bought the frame for this one already, so this *has* to get done ASAP.  Aiming for the first week in October to have it done.

Progress Report: Nautical Alphabet

My other WIP is a Nautical Alphabet that I'm going to finish for my mom for Christmas this year.  She's been in the Coast Guard since the 60s, but went into the Coast Guard Auxiliary when she retired.  My father was a commercial fisherman, so I grew up on boats and the water.

I started it on 23 August, worked on it until 27 August, then put it down to get back in my school groove.

Here's where I was as of last night 6 September:

This is my progress from when I woke up until I decided to get out and move a bit in the gorgeous end of summer day.

And this is where I got after dinner, until 8:30 pm, when I started to upload my photos.

Yep, that's where I am now.

Progress Report: Gourmet ABC

I made some progress on the Gourmet ABC between last night and this afternoon. I think I'm one stitch off in the top part of the fork, but you can't really tell.

Progress Report: Gourmet ABC

I figured I'd show off my progress on the Gourmet ABC I'm working on.   It's slow going, but I'm doing my best. My thought was if I posted here for everyone to see, I'd be more likely to make progress and finish it faster than if I just did it at home.

I'm trying to hide this from my husband - I'd really like to give it to him for a Christmas gift this year.  My goal is to have it all done by Halloween, so I have the time to frame it.

Here it is after a week of stitching:

I took 2 weeks off of stitching it, but now I really need to get back to it!  My goal is to stitch one block a day.

Finish: Let It Snow

I did a small one to get my mojo back in August. I bought this as one of those small mini kits for $1, kept the pattern to use, and used my stash for this one.

I might make a few more of these, it was a lot of fun and served its purpose well. I'm now more than ever inspired to cross stitch again.

I'm going to make it a goal from now to the end of 2016 to see if I can stitch 100,000 stitches. :)
